I tried today to branch out a little bit colorwise and use some warmer tones. This is a little tighter than I meant to do actually. I considered working on it again tomorrow to see if I could loosen it up but decided nope, it stands as is and I'd probably just muddy up the colors. I thought I was going to do a study in great leather colors but my hands had other ideas. I do love the colors of polished tanned leather. (poor cows! I'm still vegan by the way, knock on wood!) This one is 20" x 16", oil on canvas.

So much fun to look at!
The first word that comes to mind when I look at these boots is "lyrical." They are terrific!
Also, kudos for your veganism!
Wonderful.
My kind of painting! Very nice.
Connie, you know I've always aspired to doing "fun" paintings so that makes me very happy.
Christine, are you Christine Bayle? if so, I'm under the impression you don't have a blog but I sure wish you did! I love hearing a word like "lyrical" used to describe my work -- yay!
Carolee, your boot girl is fantastic and I wanted to tell you but of course your blog doesn't accept comments. You had me from your first KJ entry, aka, at hello.
Carol, your soldiers are wonderful and I was inspired by your strong lighting; lighting is so important! Thanks all you guys for stopping by to comment, I really appreciate it :0)
Beautiful colors and patterns!
hey O. Nice work as usual, your colors get more and more interesting. bd
Camille, this is one of my favorites of yours. The colours and composition are so inviting that it feels as comfortable as those old boots look.
Sheila, Bruce and Vern, hearing these things from you three really feels good because you all know (since I've told you) how much I admire what you do. So, I am offically not beating myself up anymore over having maybe done this one "too tightly." Thank you so much for the support. :0) Okay, everyone get your pictures made and send in to Karin!
Nice work as usual.Love it!
From israel with love, IB
Camille. Love what you've done to your blog!
fantastic work, and thank you for your comment
all the very best

what a beautiful 'take' on those boots. Your work is wonderful.
These are awesome Camille! The warmer colors are soooo nice. I like the new color of your blog too. You GO girl!
Thank you so much to you very nice people who take time to support other artists. I truly do appreciate your thoughtfulness, especially coming from artists whose work inspires me, as all of yours without exception, has!
These boots are great!
Love your interpretation of the boots! Also really like the softness of your dog "Buddy"... he looks like a soft old sweetheart.
Camille, Your boots are beautiful, so alive ! I would love to see you do some children's illustrations. The look of your blog represents you well.
I already thanked Johnnie and Pat separately but Dominique, I can't believe you have been reading my mind. Just the other day I remembered my long-ago goal of thinking it would be cool to do a children's book, and I was thinking about ideas for the content. I used love nothing more than having a big stack of new library books to read my girls, mostly so I could look at the pictures myself, haha! I lived for really nice illustrations. Thanks for that nudge and if it happens I will credit you in it! :D
You owe me nothing... just keep making great art! You can erase it now ; )
love to see local Dallas Artists. Thanks for sharing
Nice job! Did you do the portrait challenge? Man, it was HARD! Fun though!
Hi,Andy and thank you. I'm working on a preliminary sketch for the portrait challenge right now. I'm wondering just how loose I might take this one... I won't know till I'm actually doing it, haha. I tend to paint tightly with people, so we will see. Thanks for stopping by!
I like your paintings! particularly fond of Rehoboth. Nice work!
Still, one of the very best versions of the boots.
Thank you soooo much, Mary. I truly appreciate hearing that from you.
And thank you, too, Alex and welcome!
