Here is the drawing I did today for Karin Jurick's end of year challenge. I will be painting this artist. I am having the best time seeing all the paintings showing up one by one at Karin's site.

I am anxiously awaiting the COLOR. Love the drawing, too, so thanks for sharing that.
I've just been on Karin's site and seen all the new paintings; they're just amazing! I'm glad you're doing it and sort of glad that I'm not...too much pressure!
Wow! This is beautiful! Thank you for posting this stage of its development...one of those things I don't do either (but I always appreciate when people do...)This is such a busy time...hats off to you for taking this on! Can't wait to see the finished painting. (And...Happy New Year to you!)
Oh Camille thank you for your warm welcome. I LOVE your painting style. It's very organic and warm. I can hardly wait to see your finish portrait for DSFDF. I hope this is the start of a long virtual friendship! hugs....
I agree thanks for posting the sketch first.
I finished the portrait but i'm working on the background, maybe I'll post it.
Happy New Year
Connie, you're right, there are sure a lot of fantastic paintings lining up at KJ's site. It's a blast to find new ones, especially the surprising ones like Donna Beverly's. Love that one.
Paula, I still haven't started the painting, yikes! Maybe today. But just having this picture here makes me feel like my toe is in the water, haha. HNY to you also!
Sheila, Thank you. "organic and warm" are two of my favorite words I've heard to describe my art. Often we seek out an art direction and don't have words for it, but organic art is DEFinitely something I love and aspire toward, and also "warm." Thanks for helping me give a name to my hopes:)
Dominique, I got to see your painting in progress yesterday and you are doing such a beautiful job. That artist will surely be thrilled with it. I think portrait painting is your greatest talent; I hope you enjoy it as much as it looks like you do. Happy New Year!
Hi Camille- I feel your pain. Half of my family visiting for the holidays just left- the other half will be here for another week! I just decided to bite the bullet the other night and painted until 5am to finish Akiko's portrait!
Love the sketch/I really enjoy seeing work's in progress- it's very revealing/interesting to see the inner-workings of another artists' mind. I think that's part of the beauty of blogging. Good luck & happy painting to you the rest of the way. -Tom
Hi There...
I think the attitude you've adopted since the first of the year will help you paint your person wonderfully. Although I'm really enjoying all of the portraits I'm glad I didn't participate.... I'd be too frozen and wouldn't enjoy it.
By the way I LOVE your workbooks.... YOUR style will shine through this next challenge!
2009 will be wonderful!
I haven't seen a portrait of you up on the site yet. Can't wait to see both of them; this is such an interesting challenge!
Nice value study for the final portrait. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished painting!
Your boots for Karin's site turned out beautifully! Your color work is great!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I really appreciate it!
Camille, I'm exhausted just reading about your recent dilemmas. Really love the sketch and like everyone else can hardly wait to see the painting. Bummer with computer thing, I've just got one word for you to think about...MAC. (You're not using one now....right)? Good luck my friend...tic.tic.tic!!!
Camille...like the others, I am anxiously awaiting your submission!
The angle of the head and the lighting are fabulous...your drawing describes it so well!
Camille, you are doing a great job! I can hardly wait until the color is added and the painting finished. I love your painting style!

I really appreciate the nice feedback on this sketch, thank you so much everyone! I got a good start on the painting yesterday that is a little more cropped, more of a close-up, and I like it so far and so does my family. It isn't color-gone-wild like the boots (so far :) but maybe today the color will branch out some. I don't expect to send it to Karin until tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon-ish. Congrats everyone else on your fantastic work, it has been so inspiring to me and SO fun to see it all rolling in!
Camille, you could get by with just the sketch...very expressive and has an old master feel to it.
I'm so sorry about your computer! I promise I was not the one to crash it. :)
Nice work, and I agree with Pete - if you want just the sketch, it could stand on its own.
i really love the sketch hardly wait to see the painting.
Its the last day today?
