Whew, I just got this Buddha done under the wire for Karin's challenge this week, deadline is tomorrow night and we've had 2 weeks to do it. Of course I just started it this morning. Our daughters have been home for Thanksgiving and it has been hard to focus on painting. I chose to focus on this face because I always enjoy doing faces and I have very little floral experience. Besides, how could I compete with Vern Schwarz' hydrangeas? Impossible. So here is Siddhartha, trying to keep his mind on only the purest of thinks. Of course "he" looks like a woman but unless I'm mistaken, Buddha is a dude. 20" x 14", oil on canvas...enjoy.

Camille,are Buddhas supposed to look sexy? Nice painting, but I wonder if it is wise to flip the gods like that. You're livin' large and on the edge girl.
Wowsa! And that's not a small painting, either. I guess you've figured out how to paint with speed *and* power.
This is SOOOOO nice. The colors are amazing. Love this one.
Thanks, you guys. Yeah, I couldn't get away from how Siddhartha had to go off and starve and meditate for 40 days or something like that, trying to cleanse his mind of impure thoughts. I think this was painted on day one of all that.
It never ceases to amaze me how I'm not excited about them as I start, but then I get into it. I don't think there has been one of these KJ ones where that didn't happen. Amazing! Kudos to all of us DSFDF people :D (Connie, you have 30 hours left...hhhhmmm???)
He definitely has that serene, mysterious thing going on...
Paula, I probably got the itch to do something mysterious from your son-directing-on-set painting. :) But I'm glad this guy has some serenity too. If I missed that aspect I guess it would be a glaring failing. Thanks.
Camille, this is fabulous! I love your rich, dreamy colors, and also the fact that you focused on one specific part of the still life.
Camille, The gaze you've captured is confident and content. I assumed you would be very busy with Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping. You never fail to give us a unique and fresh perspective on the subject matter.
