Camille, I really love this, the wait was well worth it. Your sketch was awesome, but the the painting looks like it evolved along the way, and the result is striking. Way to go, and on time...ha!

Sheila - It felt like cheating. I just needed "permission" to do what I wanted; I'm too much of a people-pleaser sometimes, I could have done it anyway, right?

Dana - I'm happy with the color but this photo pales it. I'll try to get a better photo that shows that the darks are really dark and the other colors are more vivid. I was so determined to have a good range of values this time and I want the photo to show that.
Vern - I really did totally change the mood and the girl, didn't I? Hey, I was feelin' the absolute power and it corrupted me absolutely into sending her to the 80's rocker makeover place.
Christine - I do like this version much better than yesterday's. Glad you do, too. Thanks for telling me! Oh, I showed my sister the portrait of you and she said her husband can never meet you. :D

Paula - I'm so happy you like it. I think I channeled a little of your purple-loving color sensibility. Yesterday the whole thing was purple but I lavendar'd out the background today. I did try to let the dark purple show through though, although not as much as I meant to. Anyway I'm so glad you like it. :)

Everyone else has beat me to the punch, but I want to weigh in too. It is stunning! I love the values & the colors & the dreamy thing is marvelous. The only thing I don't like is that I didn't paint it.

It came out great! I also like the way this artist posed for her portrait. I was totally stymied when I found out that that particular challenge involved taking a photo of myself !
Thanks Mary! Yes, even though it was tricky to capture, her pose did give it a certain je ne sais quoi of contemplation or something. Yes, the photography aspect was a little intimidating.
