Fat Fender Chevy

My husband has been wanting a 1955 or 1956 fat fender Chevy truck like this since he first laid eyes on one. He likes the split window and wants one in International Harvester Green. I'm not sure he'll ever really buy one because he enjoys dreaming about it so much. This particular truck is by the side of Highway 71 between Austin and Houston. I think my husband knows where each one of these is, all over Texas. So I thought I'd paint him one. But I can paint him another one if anyone buys it at the Maranda Pleasant Gallery Artbox Show this Saturday night. :) $100 with a portion going to charity. 12 x 12, acrylic on 2 inch deep cradled wood panel. SOLD

This is a really fun piece and your brushstroke and color really imbue a sense of age...great job!

My dad is like that with old cars. He can't pass one on the road without craning his neck all around to get a better look at it. This is really great. I love your fearlessness with the colors!

This is wonderful, great shapes and colors. I think all guys love these old trucks.

Thanks y'all. I have to admit I think these old trucks are pretty cool myself, but I say that from a strictly non-mechanical viewpoint. There's something so evocative about them. I use that word when I have no idea how to say why I like something, but I do. They just have beautiful lines.

Terrific painting! Love your bright palette and luscious brushstrokes. That red background with the green ground is so great. Like the way you have it reflected in the bumper and the faint treatment of the trees.

Love the painting Camille. You really captured the spirit of this old truck.

Thank you, Gwen and Vern! My husband has decided he wants to start painting, too, just so he can try to paint this truck himself!

I have painted a few old trucks because the men like them so much. They always say "yeah, that's '58 ford with blah, blah... I don't know what they are..I just like the old rusty, heavily chromed ones lying out in the field. I don't like the big, deep, woofing sound when I am halfway across the field.
Nice jog on this one!

What a handsome truck! I'm not crazy about cars, but kind of understand why your husband likes it. It sure has personality. Wonderful color combination! Akiko

Camille, this is so neat. There is something about guys and old trucks, and this artwork says it perfectly...and the colors are great. Have a joyous Christmas and drop by for a bit of holiday cheer.

I can never pass an old truck without stopping to take a photo.
I like it, but it kinda reminds me of a Stephen King story I once read =:O

Love the colors and the painting as a whole...okay, it sold, so did you paint another for your husband?

: )

Thank you so much, everyone!

Leigh, I actually didn't do that yet but he liked it when I handed him the money for it and as is always the case, we needed it for bills!
