Portrait of Leslie Lockhart

I want to say right off the bat that I accidentally mixed in some acrylic paint with my oils in the early stages of this one, hence the flaky look to the surface. If it were a commission I would have started over with a new clean canvas but I wasn't even sure it was my final version. (this being the second attempt) So, thank goodness tonight is the final deadline or I was tempted to start again with a third canvas. This is 11 x 14 oil (plus acrylic :) on gallery wrap canvas. Happy New Year to all!

Camille, it's a darn good thing you didn't wait till the last minute! ;}

First, you did a fantastic job. I haven't seen the photo, but I'm very impressed with the loose, yet articulate way you painted her.

Second - I feel your PAIN about the 'accident' - I have done this twice now, mixing an oil into an acrylic painting, or vice versa - you'd think I could keep them straight at my acrylics are done at home only - and the oils are at my studio (except for my plein air bag, which, I guess is where the problem occurs!)!

Happy New Year, and many wishes for happiness and success this year!

This version seems fresher and more vibrant and richer than the first one you posted. A very good one. Your portraits have real life in them.

Camille! It was worth the wait and really beautiful!! (the painting, not me!!) ha! I hope you want to trade!! I want to tweak you a little more- I am terrible with eyes but you really, really did a great likeness of me!!!! THANK YOU! Happy New Year! I tried to post yesterday but it wouldn't go through... :)

Yay Leslie, I'm so glad you like it. Of *course* we can trade, the one you did of me just makes me happy, especially because you made me look so softened overall and so angelic, haha! That's the me I wish I were. Please don't tweak it, if I'm not too late because it's so wonderful exactly as is. I'll email you about trade details. Yay! I will hang yours with great pride.

Thank you everyone for the very kind comments.

What a wonderful portrait. Love how it came out.
The other day I was touching up a watercolor only to discover I was dipping my brush into the turpentine I had on my table from the Oil I was also working on. Could not figure out for a moment what was going on with my paint. Ahh. A senior moment. Another one even.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.
