Cowtime at Karin's

October 23, 2o08
Just this weekend as we were driving along I was looking at cows and wishing we could stop to take pictures of them so I could paint one. So naturally I was VERY happy to see Karin Jurick chose a cow for us to paint this week. I've been trying for the last couple of years not to eat beef (and have mostly stuck to that) or pork because eventually I hope to become vegan. I've tried it, it's very hard, so I'm easing in that direction. (Update 12/4/08 -- I've been vegan for a week now!) Anyway, I love cows and their sleepy look. 13.75" x 11", oil on canvas. Sold

I like this painting and am always stopping tom take pictures of cows.
I am unable to think about food production and the misery for the animals :(
Wish we were raised vegetarians.

I know that would have made it so much easier to make the adjustment, which it sure is and I'm a big lover of many things I decided to give up. It helps having a twenty-one year old who lassoed me into doing it with her so we helped each other. It also didn't help that I was 50 years old before I could eat a vegetable without holding my nose. That pretty much left me eating fruit and drinking water for a while there :)

Hey Camille, read the book "Skinny Bitch," and it will be easier for you...it did it for me. Not vegan yet, but definitely vegetarian.

Hi Camille...
Love your cow painting! I just love cows. Guess that is why I don't want to eat them! I am not vegetarian, but try to eat as little meat as I can. Kudos to you and your daughter for doing it! I need the cow on my kitchen wall to remind me!
