I like this old fashioned flour sifter. I'm always finding symbolism (holdover from English Lit. classes) everywhere I look. This object reminds me not only of the times we have baked bread or made cakes and cookies in our kitchen, but also this: There is so much negative in the world, and I need to sift through it and focus on the positive. Change things if need be and if I can, but otherwise, enjoy the beauty and wonder of the life I'm blessed to have right now. Knock on wood. I just posted this on Kim Rempel's new Mundane Objects Challenge. So far she has a ball of twine, a hammer, a roll of tape and this sifter.

Not sure why, but I really think this is a favorite, Camille. The brush strokes, the colors, the composition...It all comes together beautifully! I haven't seen a flour sifter in years either.

Saw this on Kim Rempel's site and I'm so glad 'cause now I have discovered your work! Great job on the sifter and I like the symbolism, too.
My friend Patti Vincent's comment led me to Kim's which led to yours. Funny how we seem to be drawn to certain other inspiring artists!

Hilda, I had to start a new comment before I lost that whole thread there. I have a crazy renegade demon in my laptop keypad lately that suddenly deletes what I'm typing. I'm glad you like the brushwork; I had some pretty thick paint going on there!
